Snow conditions are improving across the alps
The Alpine ski season is in full swing and some heavy snow falls over the last few weeks have really improved ski resort conditions. Saalbach in Switzerland had some of the heaviest snow last week with a 7 day snowfall of 150cm.
Austria has seen phenomenal snow falls since Christmas with high avalanche warnings across the region and roads blocked. Conditions are now improving and, now that resorts are getting on top of the huge volumes of snow they’ve received, the outlook for the rest of the season is looking great.
Beyond the Alps Sweden and Norway have also seen good snowfalls to really kick their peak snow sports season off with resorts seeing between 60 and 170cm of snow.
Skiers and snowboarders are getting excited by the pictures on social media of deep powder snow and beautifully groomed pistes and with half term around the corner, a peak time for ski holidays, everyone is hoping this is the start of an epic ski season.
